The problem

Most essay coaching focuses on the essay.
We focus on the applicant behind it.

Problem 01

Each essay is treated in isolation

Your Common App, supplements, and short answers should not repeat the same story. They should work together to reveal different dimensions of who you are.

Problem 02

Editing starts before the right story is found

Better sentences cannot rescue the wrong topic. The hardest—and most important—work happens before the polishing begins: finding the angle worth writing.

Problem 03

Feedback improves the writing, but not always the applicant

A polished essay can still feel generic. Every revision should make the reader understand something more specific, compelling, and memorable about you.

Problem 04

No one owns the whole process

When essays are handled as separate assignments, students are left to decide what to prioritize, what to cut, and when a draft is truly ready. Strong applications need continuity from first idea to final submission.

Master’s & PhD in International Security · 15 Years of Academic Writing Instruction

“A strong essay shows an admissions reader not just who you are, but how you think.”

For 15 years, I have worked with students on academic and admissions writing. My own training began in the UK’s essay-based academic system and continued through advanced PhD-level research in International Security.

That background shapes how I read college essays. I look beyond polish to the thinking beneath the story—what you noticed, why it mattered, and what the admissions reader understands about you by the end.

My role is to identify what makes your story distinctive and shape the essay around it—so it reveals something the rest of your application cannot.

A few questions for Chrisy

Q1

What makes an admissions essay stand out?

Usually, it is not the story itself. It is what the student sees in that story that someone else might miss. The strongest essays reveal how a student thinks, what they notice, what they value, and how they make meaning from experience. By the end, I want the reader to feel that they have met someone—not simply read a well-written essay.

Q2

What separates a good essay from one that is ready to submit?

A good essay can be polished and still feel replaceable. I consider an essay ready when only that student could have written it—when the story, reflection, structure, and voice all point to something distinctive about who they are. Every paragraph should deepen the reader’s understanding, not simply make the writing sound better.

Q3

What is your role in that process?

My job is not to write a better essay for the student. It is to see the potential in a draft that the student may not yet see—the stronger story, the deeper idea, the sentence that deserves to become the center of the piece. Then I ask the questions, challenge the thinking, and refine the structure and language until the strongest version of that story emerges in the student’s own voice.

01

Is this admissions consulting?

No. College Essay Embassy works only on your college essays: drafts, revisions, structure, and editorial feedback. We don't build school lists, manage applications, or make admissions predictions.

02

Who writes the essays?

You do. Your advisor gives coaching, suggestions, and comments. You decide what to keep. We never ghostwrite, and we don't guarantee admission.

03

What counts as an eligible essay request?

A standard request is one eligible college essay draft or revision of up to 750 words, such as a personal statement, a supplemental essay, or a school-specific prompt. If you're not sure whether something qualifies, ask on your fit call.

04

What does within two business days mean?

The clock starts when a standard request becomes your active request, not when it's added to the queue. Feedback is returned in Google Docs within two business days (Monday to Friday, excluding US federal holidays).

05

What happens after I subscribe?

You'll get an email with an invitation to your private Trello board and a shared Google Drive folder. Add your schools, prompts, deadlines, and drafts, then choose your first active request. You can start the same day.

06

How does it work?

Put every essay in one queue: organize schools, prompts, drafts, and deadlines in a private Trello board. Move one draft into review: choose the most important draft or revision, and your advisor focuses on that one active request. Revise with clear direction: receive suggestions and comments in Google Docs within two business days, then decide what belongs in your final essay.

07

Can I pause or cancel?

Yes. Pause or cancel anytime before your next billing date and you won't be charged for the next period. See the Cancellation Policy for details.

08

Do I need Trello and Google accounts?

Yes, the free versions of both are enough. Trello holds your queue and deadlines. Google Docs holds your drafts, suggestions, and comments.

09

What if my deadline is close?

You choose which request is active, so move the nearest deadline to the front of your queue. Plan around the two-business-day window. If you're unsure whether your timing will work, book a fit call before you subscribe.
